Paula knows the importance of these connections firsthand, as they became the cornerstone of strength after receiving a stage 2 breast cancer diagnosis that began a frightening journey into the unknown.

It was Paula’s deep family connection with her daughter, Nicole, that helped pave the way forward. And it was Nicole’s insistence at looking beyond the surface to find ways to help her mother heal from within–on the most foundational level–that helped make the path to healing a successful one.

Shortly after Paula received her diagnosis, Nicole dropped everything to be with her mother every step of the way. Not just a devoted daughter, Nicole had also been studying cancer for almost a decade and came with a wealth of understanding in addition to being a rock solid support system.

As conversations around the diagnosis shifted into conversations about how doctors were planning to treat her mother’s cancer, Nicole grew worried, concerned that her mother’s treatment didn’t include plans (or even discussions!) on how to heal Paula’s body to stop it being an environment where cancer could easily take hold.

Not satisfied with the approach alone, Nicole advocated for what else could be done to help support her mother’s health as she battled cancer.
